West Marches Original Dungeons and Dragons - Hex 015.016 - Tizan's Crossroad
Description
The forest to the west is swampy, to the east more pine related. There is an important crossroads arend the center of the hex.
- Forest swamp:
- Towards the north-west, near hex 014.016, there is a little water pond with a plant called "Blueleaf". It's a dureable tree with gleaming blue leaves native to humid temperate and subarctic latitudes. Reaches 40 ft height, rarely develops thick trunks, bends rather than breaks under wind/snow and tends to grow in thick strands. Sap and crushed leaves yield vivid blue dye, burnt wood creates leaping blue flames. It's wood can be magically treated to be as hard as steel (requires 10 days and 10 ranks in craft alchemy or woodworking) and then fashioned into armor, counting as Masterwork and providing a half-weight benefit. Costs range from 300 gp to 1200 gp.
- If players towards the southeast, especially towards the southwest (hex 014.017), they will feel an unease: normal forest sounds will go off, a kind of general darkness and mood will take over.
- Crossroads:
- At the crossroad there is a sign going east that is completed scratched and destroyed. It originally said "East: John's Manor" (see hex 018.018 for why it was scratched). There is another sign saying "South: Bartok's Village"
- There is also a statue of Tizan, the creator/craftman God, with an altar and offering on it. If the PCs put a gift on the altar, they receive a blessing for the rest of the game.
